Continue Rolling the Ball
Building a New Routine
Because of my lack of focus, I decided I need a new routine. What, I had a routine before? Actually I did and it hardly made the day productive. I told myself when I got into the office, I would start with writing a post in Cyper. I set a time limit of 60 minutes and write whatever came to mind.
I should make a plan of what I want to do but for now, but just getting something done is important.
Then I Get Distracted
I get caught up with reading useless stuff on the Internet. How many times have I seen something that looked interesting and go on a tangent that would last for hours? Too many times. Today, it was about “The Godfather Series”… Then, I went into other topics and the next thing I know, I’ve wasted three hours.
Still Get What You Planned Done
At least a little. Regardless of what happened, I did have a list of things I wanted to work on. After this post is done, I’ll work on whatever I have planned. Any progress is better than none.
Get Someone to Remind You
While the best reminders come from oneself, it’s good to have people around you being accountable. Small little nudges and words of encouragement on how the work is going can bring a person back and get back to the task at hand.
Reflect and Measure the Day
Will I do this? I know it’s good to look back at the day and see what I’ve done right and wrong. Can I get something written down before heading off to bed? It’s such a challenge to look back on a day that’s already been lived a few hours ago. It’s another bothersome task that I have to grudging do.
Better get it done.
Things to Consider for Today:
-
Was today a waste?
-
In some ways, yes.
-
Can I break the pattern?
-
Yes, I can.
-
I can start now.
-
I can get some things done.
-
Even a step forward is better than none.
-
Build on that step and take a few more.
-
Move on what you can today.

Check out this book by Steven Pressfield called “Do The Work”. It’s the newest release from The Domino Project and covers all the stuff you’re talking about here at Cyper. Worth the read.
