Improvising as I go
The Biggest Change
The first thing I’m tackling is my sleeping schedule. The time here is 10:23pm, so I don’t have much time. I hope that I can get to sleep by 11:00pm and wake up at 7:00am. It’s important that I start the day this way to get the things I want to get done. I found that getting eight hours of sleep consistently is a real challenge. Who knows much time and productivity I’ve lost by not sleeping and waking at the same time day in and day out? Well, it’s no use to regret what was done. The only thing to do is learn from it and make sure I get to bed and wake up at the same time from here on.
Spreadsheet Made for Progress
I’ve made my spreadsheet yesterday and printed it out. It shows a list of things I want done which I’ve listed out in a previous entry. I’ve also made a few more spaces if I wanted to add more things to the list and work on them as well. It’s strange, but I’ve never made a list like this before. I think I’ve read about it somewhere, but never implemented it. The first four days are pretty much empty. I hope on the 5th, that’ll be different.
iPhone Entries are a Pain
If you haven’t noticed, the last few entries were much more shorter than usual. That’s because I was on the iPhone typing away. It’s hard to say the least. I think if it were a spur of a moment or inspiration, it’s not going to be used that often. Well, who knows? I’ll keep trying anyways. The last few updates made it a bit easier to use. Maybe if I had an iPad, it would be much more simpler and faster. I certainly can write a lot more on a computer. Again, it’ll come down to sleeping when I’m suppose to sleep. I would like to write my entries in a specific time block.
Things to Consider for Today:
- It’s a work in progress.
- I need to keep adjusting and improving.
- Keep the eye on the prize.
- Review often.
- Find one thing to focus on.
- Work on it relentlessly.
- Keep it simple, even though life isn’t.
- See the progress.
- Make it measurable.
- Show creativity.
- Know that you will fail quite often.
- A baby falls and gets back up to walk again.
- It’s a principle of life and I should do likewise.

Okay….I have been reading your blog a long time now…and have one piece of advice:
Stop thinking, writing, organizing and obsessing about what you have to do to change your life. Just do it!
I mean that in the most loving way possible. To an outsider looking in, you get yourself bogged down in all the details, and never actually do anything but obsess about what you need to do. Nothing happens without action.
Also, unless one of your goals is to be a professional writer, take blogging off your list (I don’t mean never blog, but don’t make it a priority). It is something that feels productive (because it makes you think and write about what you want to do) but really…it is a distraction from just doing. It is a time suck.

Hi Jill! Thanks for the comment. The recent entries are just me thinking out loud. I feel that I’m not thinking enough these days. I am bogged down with details at the same time still moving forward. If I wasn’t, I would be in big trouble.
This blog can be a time suck if I don’t have the proper goals in mind. Again, it’s just a matter of taking the steps forward.
By saying your comments in a loving way, I appreciate that.

Wow Jill, I have to firmly disagree with your opinion. I LOVE the way Mike writes and he shouldn’t change a thing. BTW, I checked out the link on your name and you don’t seem to follow your own advice…your last BLOG entry was all the things you need to do. Really Jill? Are you talking to Mike or yourself?

I love Mike’s writing too…that’s why I keep reading his blog. He writes beautifully…but I still said what I believe. We all have changes to make…of course. If you bother to look past my New Year’s Resolution post (what else would it be about?) you’ll see I have changed a lot about myself and how I live in the last few years…pretty much everything! Read my last year’s worth of posts (heck read two), and then tell me whether or not I follow my own advice.
Life is a learning process for us all, but I assume most bloggers don’t want nothing but praise, they also share their lives for the insight that a reader looking in can provide! I certainly do, although I expect people to read more than one page of my blog before making rude judgements about me and my life.
Mike knows better than me what progress he is making, so I am glad to see he is making progress! I am confident he knows I meant my comment in a supportive and not critical manner.
