What’s Going On?
Preoccupied and Distracted
I think a little quiet time is in order.
I feel like I have so many things on my plate due to the personal and professional changes I have going on. While I’m still working forward on my plans, the little distractions here and there makes life so… complex. I shouldn’t make any excuses, but it’s so easy to make them.
I guess that’s the difference between ordinary folk and shakers and movers of the world.
The Steps to Mastery of a Skill
I know the drill. Consistency and practice. A routine and plan to accomplish the steps. Then, break the monotony by doing something different, yet connected to the things I’ve learned.
This is the art of doing the same thing in a different fashion each day. If a person does the same things over and over daily, they will certainly develop provided the boredom doesn’t drive them crazy. Being bored is truly a problem for people since we need different stimuli and patterns to catch our attention and be motivated. How ideal is it for the man who sees the same thing differently since he can be a master of that very quickly.
I think whatever skill that requires repetition needs to be done in short order at first. Once a person seems to be comfortable with it, change it up by either making it longer, changing the sequence or introduce an entire new exercise related to that task. A consistent time must be set to do this or it’ll be quickly forgotten from the busyness of life. This can applied to any skill: practicing the piano, improving drawing technique or memorizing capitals of 100 different countries.
I’ll need to get going and get some stuff done. Be well and all the best!
