Fear Grabs You
It’s funny how fear grabs you, stops you in your tracks.
I’ve felt fear for many, many years with my projects and goals. I see the size of the things I have to do, in order to get it done.
I shrink away.
I’ve had people told me, “I don’t have what it takes.” The words grow on me like a star collapsing in seconds before going supernova. But instead of a massive explosion, it’s a whimper of a puppy dog being rejected.
Fear Comes From Inside
All the monsters that goes bump in the night is from within. Those demons, those evil beings come in and demand your attention. They want you to submit and are willing to beat you into submission.
All those fears I’ve had… the execution rarely came to fruition. The threats were hollow, weak, even forgotten.
My mind, my ego was the real enemy if there was any.
Moving the Piano
For nearly a year, I knew I had to move the piano from the small room to the living room. By doing this, I can move a desk into the small room and Da Boy can study in his own room.
But I was afraid.
The piano was too heavy. I might break the piano if I move it. I might hurt myself and others when I move the piano. I might cause unnecessary damage to my place.
Then one day, I couldn’t delay any longer. Da Boy is entering middle school in a couple of months. He needs a place where he can concentrate and study with little interruptions.
I had to act. I told Da Missus we have to get going. The decision made, we went at it. An hour later, the piano was in its new location and Da Boy’s desk was in its proper place. Some aches and pains, yes. The piano was fine. Property damage? We couldn’t see any of that.
Afterwards, I asked myself, “Was this the thing I was afraid of?”
You Gotta Do What You Are Afraid of
Life is about living the life you want. Achieving the great heights. Making every second count.
Time is going to pass anyway. We blink and a year flies. We blink again, we’re in our twilight. We must be bold in our steps. We must face the things we’re scared of. When we pass through the membrane, a new world awaits us. Perhaps, a better one.
Everything you want is on the other side of fear,
